Start with the bigger picture
For Australian businesses considering sponsorship and workers discussing a sponsored pathway.
A sponsored pathway involves more than a job offer. The business, nominated role and proposed worker have distinct requirements. A useful first discussion separates these parts so responsibilities, preparation and scope are easier to understand. Sponsorship should be considered alongside the real needs of the business.
A job offer is not a visa grant. Do not assume a worker can start, change roles or move employers without checking their current work rights and the relevant requirements.

- Which ongoing responsibilities and separate costs need consideration?
Useful information to have nearby
- A short business overview and work location
- A role description based on the actual duties

- Existing sponsorship, nomination or visa details if relevant

A little more clarity
Your questions, considered.
Can you advise both the business and the worker?
The scope of assistance and any conflicts of interest must be considered before engagement. Explain who is requesting advice and whose interests are involved.
Is the visa application the only part of sponsorship?
Depending on the pathway, sponsorship and nomination processes may also be involved, alongside ongoing responsibilities. Scope and costs should be made clear before work begins.
Can a sponsored worker automatically move to permanent residence?
No. A later permanent visa has its own requirements. Any transition needs to be assessed against current rules and the person’s circumstances.
One thoughtful first step
